Just a heads-up from my own experience: your passport needs to be valid for the whole trip, and honestly, longer is safer. I scanned the photo page clearly—no glare, no cropped corners. Passport requirements for Japan eVisa also mean your name must match your application exactly, so check for middle names. If your passport expires soon, renew it first. Mine had six months left, and everything went smoothly. Keep the scan handy on your phone too. Hope this saves someone the confusion I had!
